About this Event

Palliative care is defined as providing specialized, patient-centered care in partnership with specialty colleagues that improves quality of life for adults living with serious illness through symptom management, advance care planning, care coordination, and emotional support.

About the presenter:
Brooke Wagen is a palliative care and internal medicine physician in Austin, Texas. Having trained in primary care and internal medicine during Covid, she holds onto gratitude for the privilege of knowing patients and practicing medicine, having entered her second career after 19 years as a stay-at-home mom. She lives in East Austin with her husband Taylor, and has 3 children, two of whom are grown and married. She entered medicine with the goal of providing medical care for her older, chronically ill neighbors, and now works for Travis County doing just that.
